Overview

UMN Pharma Inc. is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to developing innovative pharmaceutical products that will satisfy unmet medical needs; our most important mission is to provide good candidates having proof of concept in clinical stage to big Pharma. Our core competencies reside in utilizing our significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry to generate time-efficient, focused development plans followed by rapid preclinical and clinical development to meet international regulatory specifications. We have a pipeline of diverse novel small molecule and protein drug candidates targeting large (cancer and diabetes) and relatively small (pancreatitis and muscular dystrophy) pharmaceutical markets that are seriously underserved by existing therapeutics, and influenza vaccine:

1)
UMN-01, an anti-cancer drug, is a first-in-class GRP78 down-regulator specifically under the condition of glucose starvation, which is well seen in various solid tumors. We are currently conducting the preclinical studies, and the clinical study will be started in late 2007.

2) UMN-02, for the treatment of pancreatitis, is a drug repurposing project using an already approved drug and it is our original project. Since this strategy is known as an effective way to discover a late stage project, many companies are taking this strategy. UMN-02 is under preparation for the clinical study that will be started in the US in early 2007 after getting the clinical POC in Japan in 2006.
3)
UMN-03, for muscular dystrophy, diabetes and obesity, is a myostatin-inhibiting fusion protein of a part of specific protein and the Fc portion of IgG. We have signed a research licensing agreement with Crucell/DSM to manufacture UMN-03. After finishing the manufacture of the clinical sample, the clinical study will be started in 2008.
4) UMN-05, influenza vaccine, is an in-licensed product from Protein Sciences Corporation (PSC). The PSC’s proprietary product, FluBlØk™, is under clinical development and will be launched in 2007. We will start the preclinical study in 2006 and the clinical study in early 2007.
We have raised approximately $28.5 million from 24 prominent investors including Pacific Rim Ventures, Nomura Research & Advisory, NIF SMBC Ventures and ASTEC.
