vaccine manufactured from cell culture, were launched in June of 2008.
Study results confirmed that UMN-0501 provided immunogenicity in the

pandemic influenza virus. The tolerability of UMN-0501 was good with no
serious or highly adverse side effects diagnosed by the principal
investigator.

UMN-02 pharmacological study results published in the October, 2008 volume of the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics,
a leading international academic journal, showed the involvement of
5-HT(2A) receptor activation in choline-deficient, 0.5% D,L-ethionine
supplemented (CDE) diet-induced acute pancreatitis in mice. This
research paper follows a previous presentation made at the annual
Digestive Disease Week (DDW) conference held in May of 2008 in the USA.
The data presented at DDW demonstrated the potential efficacy of
selective 5-HT(2A) antagonist in acute pancreatitis. The most recent
study results showed that UMN-02 ameliorated severe necrotizing acute
pancreatitis in mice by inhibiting key inflammatory responses. Based on
these experimental results, we believe that UMN-02, a highly specific
5-HT2A antagonist, could serve as a novel therapeutic for the treatment
of not only of acute edematous pancreatitis, but also for various
symptoms of pancreatitis.
Researchers from UMN Pharma Inc. presented pharmacological study
results at the annual Digestive Disease Week conference demonstrating
the impact of UMN-02, a specific 5HT-2A receptor antagonist, on
choline-deficient ethionine-supplemented (CDE) diet-induced necrotizing
acute pancreatitis in mice. This presentation showed that UMN-02
ameliorated severe necrotizing acute pancreatitis in mice by inhibiting
key inflammatory responses. Based on these experimental results, we
believe that UMN-02 could serve as a novel therapeutic for the
treatment of acute pancreatitis.
UMN-02 is a highly specific 5HT-2A receptor antagonist being developed
by UMN Pharma Inc. for the treatment of acute pancreatitis.
Further details about our presentation can be found in the conference
proceedings from the DIGESTIVE DESEASE WEEK 2008.
